On Saturday August 1st, Cougars past and present got together to celebrate three events in one of the most memorial days in Clark Athletic History!
The day started off with the 1st ever Clark Collegiate Athlete Recognition Event and unveiling of the new “Cougars at the Next Level Board”in the gymnasium. There are 46 student-athletes in Clark’s short history that have earned an opportunity to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Shortly after the College Athlete Recognition Event ended, the celebration moved outside to the turf field for another memorable ceremony, Field Dedication of MK Conkin Memorial Field and unveiling of a brand new scoreboard in her honor. Thanks to the generosity from Clark Parent Elizabeth Conkin, in honor of her late mother MK Conkin, the turf field at Clark Montessori now has a full functioning and wireless controlled scoreboard for the 1st time in the fields seven plus year existence. This amenity will greatly enhance the experience many of Clark’s teams, make it more fan friendly for spectators, and add more opportunities for the many community schools/groups who use the playing surface. The first time the new scoreboard will be lit up for regular season action will be Saturday August 29th when the Cougars host CHCA in a Junior High Soccer match.
The final event of the day was the Annual Jenna Laumer Memorial Clark Cougar Alumni Soccer Game. The 1st game featured the Clark Girls High School Soccer team vs. Clark Women Alumni. The 2nd game featured the Clark Boys High School Soccer Team vs. Clark Men Alumni. Before the games began, there was a special dedication to Jenna Laumer explaining her story and the new Jenna Laumer Memorial Scholarship Fund that was set up to help future Clark student-athletes in her honor.
